The bus will pick up you and your companions directly in front of the hotel for a 1.5 hour tour of the city. The tour will begin at the Theaterplatz (theatre square) with all the most famous sights of Dresden: the Semperoper (opera house), the Frauenkirche (church of Our Lady) and the Zwinger. Along the banks of the Elbe river, past the 'Transparent Factory' (automobile production plant of Volkswagen) and the park Großer Garten, you will be able to take in the magnificent sites of the three Elbe castles on the far side of the river. The tour continues through Dresden's exclusive residential area along the Königsstraße and the Neustadt district back to the Theaterplatz. If you prefer, we can also drop you back to the hotel.
Explore the sights of Dresden's old town during a 2-hour walking tour. Take in the Renaissance architecture and experience the opulence of the Baroque avenues. Your walk will lead you and your companions to the Zwinger and the Semperoper (opera house), past the castle and the Fürstenzug (the largest picture made of porcelain in the world) right to the world famous Frauenkirche (church of Our Lady) and 'Europe's balcony', the Bruehlsche Terasse. Explore the 800-year-old city on foot, and let the 'Zeitgeist' of the past envelop you.
When evening falls and the nightingales begin their warbling at the Zwingerteich lake, the moon and the gas lanterns cast their golden light across the old cobblestone streets, then - on the odd occasion - you might run into the ghost of a long dead Franciscan monk near the Kronentor gate of the city. He will gather those nightowls among you around, will serve golden wine and will chat about past times while taking you on a walk through the city by night.
Enjoy the high life on a yacht cruise on the Elbe River. The skipper will point out all the highlights of the unique landscapes of the Elbauen. And you won't have to drive! The cruise includes the following highlights: Neustadt – Old Town / City – Loschwitz / Blaues Wunder – Dresden Neustadt.
During this 2-hour city tour you will see the historical old city and the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche, and the Semperoper. Across the river on the other side, you will be visiting the baroque city district and the equestrian statue of August the Strong, the 'Golden Rider'. Then you will cycle along the Elbe River to the quaintest milk shop in the world, the Pfund's Molkerei. Your return trip will bring you below the Bruehlsche Terasse and right back to your starting point. The 3-hour cycling trip will additionally include the exclusive residential area Blasewitz and the Blaues Wunder. You will conclude the trip with wonderful panoramic views from the top of the Elbe castles before heading back to the city centre.
In the district of Dresden-Reick, at a former gas storage building, you will encounter the panorama 'Dresden 1756'. Here, the visitor is transported to the top of the Frauenkirche's bell tower - from there you would have the best panoramic view of the Baroque city as it would have looked in the middle of the 18th century: the castle, Neustadt Market, Augustus Bridge, Bruehlsche Terasse, Frauenkirche, and Neumarkt, Kreuzkirche and Altmarkt. All that wonderful architecture from the Baroque period is nestled between Elbe River landscapes and residentail areas, busy with the hustle and bustle of people on a market day in this royal city, which is also referred to as the 'Florence on the Elbe'.
